OPPORTUNITIES AND JOB OPENINGS
Post-doctoral Fellowship Position in Clinical Application of Cardiovascular Biomechanics: We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic candidate to fill a post-doc position, with an emphasis on experimental and computational biomechanics. An ideal candidate for this position would have a PhD in a relevant engineering field, with previous published experience in structural/tissue mechanics using either experimental or computational techniques. Interested candidates are encouraged to send their CV, with a cover letter describing their research interests and career goals to the PI (Dr.Padala). Candidates chosen to fill this position will work on understanding the biomechanics of different mitral valve repair techniques in bench models, swine studies and from human patients undergoing mitral valve surgery at our institution. This position is funded by NHLBI R01 HL133667-01A1.
Graduate student recruitment: We are seeking to recruit one graduate students to our lab starting Fall 2018 to conduct research focused on cardiovascular medical devices and biomaterials. The ideal candidates would be those with a solid engineering background with some previous experience in laboratory research. The projects are expected to shape into thesis that would focus on developing a concept into device prototypes, and testing them in relevant bench and animal models, to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of the device. Interested candidates are expected to be bold enough to learn new techniques involving surgical models, and interact closely with clinicians and industry. Only students already admitted to the Biomedical Engineering or Bioengineering programs at Georgia Tech/Emory should contact Dr.Padala with their interest. Others are encouraged to apply to the program for admission, before which they cannot be considered.
